I’m just a car salesman who is enjoying his day off waiting for the Lakers playoff game so please forgive me as I had never heard of Kieslowski before. I read the story thinking perhaps it was a tribute to some family member, lost girlfriend, or something like that. I then Googled Kieslowski and think I figured out that this story is based on the plot of, The Double Life of Veronique. It’s hard to understand this piece without the same familiarity that the author shares and I’m left to assume without ever having seen this guys works that there is a reason the woman have names and the man doesn’t and other things that I’m not even aware of. In terms of writing I felt it seemed to be more of a visual pass than something that was digging, reaching, climbing, or scratching at something. For instance, when he strokers her, is it as one would stroke their pet? When does one declare in times of chinese chicken salads their “undying love” for anyone? I did like that there were two paragraphs each playing the same scene from different yet closely related points of view. I would like to see the writer work harder on this piece. Forget any loyalty to Kieslowski. Make it his own.

The SLM free4all Blog was ORIGINALLY designed to enable users to post creative content or to comment on any such content as they wished. This planned format has not generated interest. Yet it is true that writers and artists published in issues of SPOT LIT frequently write to the SLM editor and comment on the writing or the works of other writers and artists in the magazine. Toward that end, and because the SPOT LIT editor does not have the time to play go-between for shy writers and artists who do not know each other but who like each other’s works, we’d like to have the blog be a place where SLM readers, writers, and artists can comment on work in the issues. SPOT people are encouraged to get to know one another by commenting on the works! Anyone else may post comments, or contents, of their own design: please feel free! Why not express your sentiments directly? SLM would still like to envision a forum for the free postings of literary pieces or of art work, and the continuous commenting upon such by all interested users… But whatever happens, happens. There will be no administrative control exercised; all you Users have to do is log-on, for which you need an email address (which will not be published in any way), and a name, your own, or any moniker you like. This simple process is described herein under the menu “How to Post or Comment” at the top of the Home page. Thank you, and please enjoy!
